7B Unit6 Welcome to the unit 

Teaching aims: 

1. To learn about some outdoor activities 

2. To talk about the students’ favourite outdoor activities

Teaching procedures: 

Step 1: Lead in 

1.Teacher plays the video and asks, “What activities are people doing in the video?” Students list the activities and Teacher concludes, “They are all outdoor activities.”

2. Teacher introduces the learning aims to students  


Step 2: Presentation of welcome to the unit 

1. Teacher shows some pictures of outdoor activities and introduce their names(cycling, skiing, skating, riding, hiking, camping, diving, jogging, surfing) 

2.  Look at the pictures and practice the sentence pattern “I want to go …ing.” 

3. Ask students, “What outdoor activity would you like to try?” 

4. Teacher asks students to guess her favourite outdoor activity? 

5. Daniel and Amy are talking about outdoor activities. Listen to their conversation and answer the questions: 

1) What outdoor activity would Amy like to try? 

2) What outdoor activity does Daniel like? 

6.  Open books and turn to Page69 and answer two more questions: 

1) Why would Amy like to go riding? 

2) What does Daniel like about camping? 

7. Read the conversation together. 


Step 3: Practice 

1. Talk about the outdoor activities you want to do?

A: What outdoor activity would you like to try? 

B: I want to go …ing.

2. Free talk: What advantage do outdoor activities have? 

3. Group work: Suggestions for outdoor activities 

Look at the picture and read the background. Discuss what outdoor activities they can do and write on the work sheet. 

1) Millie plans to go to Maldives(马尔代夫) for summer holiday. What outdoor activities can she do? Why?

2) Amy and her friends are going on a spring outing. What outdoor activities do you suggest(建议)? Why?

3) Suzy is going to Switzerland(瑞士) this winter. What outdoor activity would you like to recommend(推荐)? Why?
